Getting more Fusion Matter Guide!
In many places on these boards I%u2019ve seen it suggested that the best way to gain fusion matter outside of missions is to run the races inside the infected zones.  I%u2019m not sure that this is true.  I am currently at level 35 and have yet to run a single race.  I gain fusion matter primarily by %u2018grinding%u2019 or hunting monsters.  I can currently get about 6,000 fusion matter in about 10 minutes.  I do not know, but I%u2019ve heard that at best you get about 4,000 in 10 minutes of racing.  Here are my tips on how to gain fusion matter from monsters in no particular order.

Use the scavenge ability.  In my opinion, scavenge is the most powerful nano ability in the game.  You can just use the scavenge nano right when a creature is about to die in order to get the 20% fusion bonus, but there is away to get even more use out of them.

As you should know, each creature in FusionFall is one of three types; Adaptium, Blastons or Cosmix.  Your nanos are also of these three types. These three types use a Rock / Paper / Scissors system where Adaptium beats Blastons, Blastons beat Cosmix and Cosmix beats Adaptium.  (If the nano you have out %u2018beats%u2019 the monster you are targeting a check mark will appear next to that monsters name at the top of the screen.)  Having the correct type of nano active when attacking a creature will give you a 20% attack bonus.  So, if you use an appropriate nano with the scavenge ability you will not only be able to beat these monsters faster you will get more fusion when you do so.  You may have to do a bit of exploring to find the right area with the monsters that are weak to your scavenge nano, but it will be worth it.

You can raise the damage bonus and fusion matter bonus from scavenge if the nano has a gumball.  Giving a scavenge nano a gumball makes it collect an additional 3% more fusion and raises the attack bonus it gives by 3% as well..  The extra fusion you get from killing one creature may not be much, but this does add up when you are killing thousands of them.  A single gumball will last 10 minutes, so you can use this time limit to gauge how well you are doing.

Along with a scavenge nano, use one that gives you health.  In-between fighting these trios of creatures you can regain some health before you take on the next set.  I almost always have a group health nano with me, just in case.

For the third nano, I like something that can give an added punch if necessary; for example something with a damage, drain, or leach ability.  However using a run nano power can work too.

What monsters you go after also matters.  There are different strengths of monsters that give different amount of fusion matter.  In theory you should go after the stronger ones that give more fusion matter.  However I%u2019ve found that it%u2019s more efficient to go after the weaker monsters that tend to group together in threes.  Basically you get more by killing three little guys than you would from killing one big guy, and its a lot quicker too.  For example, the Lizard Queens in the Fireswamps or the Skullbashers in Huntor%u2019s Crest.  Make sure you use a shattergun as one of your weapons as you will be going after multiple creatures at once.  I don%u2019t think that the secondary weapon matters as much, but I like a pistol.

Remember the 20% attack bonus that the right nano will give you, well using weapon boosts will also give an additional 20% attack bonus.  Makes sure you start out with 9,999 of these when you start a %u2018hunting trip.%u2019  You will gain some from defeating some monsters, but the total will slowly go down.  When you run out just take a break and stock up again.  So if you use the right nano, that nano has a gumball and you have weapon boosts, your attacks will be 43% stronger on average.

Just as you use weapon boosts to raise your attack, you should use nano potions to make sure that your nanos do not run out or energy.  You should not need to buy these as I find that I tend to get them from creatures faster than I can use them.  So feel free to use them often.

I like finding an area that I can make a wide circle around while zig-zagging to make sure I cover everything.  By the time you get back around to the start those monsters should have re-spawned.  When fighting its best to engage a monster or set of three of them and then shoot at them while walking backwards.  You want to make sure that you know where all the creatures in the area are so you don%u2019t back yourself into an ambush.

Be aware of the boss monsters; both the ones by themselves and those with escorts of smaller monsters.  It is because of these bigger guys that I like to have my third nano have a strong damage ability.

Here are some other benefits to grinding monsters as compared to running infected zone races.
*  -  You can do it for any amount of time, and can start or stop when you want.  If you get a network close or lose connection with the server at any point in a race, you get zero fusion matter.  Not so with hunting, as you get the fusion matter a bit at a time.
*  -  I%u2019ve heard that some players have difficult with the infected zone races on slower machines, from what I can tell this is not as much of a problem when grinding monsters.
*  -  You can grind monsters in groups, keep in mind that an individual will not get as much fusion matter this way.  However it is a great way for a high level character to help a lower level one get lots of fusion.
*  -  Once again, from what I can tell, when by yourself you actually get more fusion matter this way.

The one thing that running races has over this is the higher potential to receive the Sooper Dooper crates.  I do get a lot of crates when grinding monsters, but the majority of them are standard ones.  Keep in mind that you only get the best crates when you have a very good run in an infected zone race, you don%u2019t get them every time.  The odds of getting a good crate when defeating monsters is the same as any other time, you%u2019ll just be destroying a lot of them and getting a lot of crates.  I%u2019ve had to take a break at times because I%u2019ve picked up too many crates.  Selling the excess uncommon equipment will help pay for more weapon boosts too.

That%u2019s about it, happy hunting,
